just waking up, rebuilt the fire, got the guitar down, and plugged in....
thinking about the Costa Rica residency issues, and how absurd it all
is.. they are running people out of the country who have homes here,
provide jobs, and who bring in money constantly....
its all to do just another Tico rip off of foriegners, which is all
they know collectively....
they are so snooty in San Jose (San Hose job) that the minister of
tourism a couple years back said their goal is to eliminate low class
back packer tourism, and only allow upscale "rich" tourism.....
what that means in "Tico Think" is they only want big fish.... if
you can spend a hundred grand on a bare lot on a gated community, if
you have a big plastic yacht thats white, and you have nothing better
to do than play golf and pull lettuce out of your wallet, and throw
it in wads to brown people with lawyer licenses, by all means be
welcome in the Pus hole of central America with its body count on
nightly TV, usually of Rich people being taken out in the brush,
robbed, and killed....
basically they got the idea there is a higher class of victims.... a
few upscale projects, a few super rich spending a thousand a day in
snob level hotels & resorts, and the Costa Rica Elite has decided
this is Monaco on the Istmus.... They have a few noisy electronic
gambling Casinos where they fleece the mentally ill, they have a golf
course or two in a country you dont put your hand in holes, without
looking in them first with a flashlight for snakes, and where if your
ball goes off the fairway, best pull another one out of your bag..
as there are quite often 8 ft fat headded, incredibly well
camouflaged snakes in the weeds... and its also a good idea to keep
your door closed, or you'll find snakes under your bed.. no joke...
I had some visitors come down once, I worried about how to impress
them with the danger reality.. When they arrived we had to move
things a bit to make room for the cots... we ran into a couple snakes
in the process... I didnt have to say much...
anyway, the snakes that slither, are nothing in comparison to the ones
that speak spanish... or even worse accented english.. any Tico
that speaks English best be worried about..... especially if theyre
lawyers....
anyway, I think Costa Rata is heading for an implosion.... they have
reinstituted their army, gotten rid of in '48, only now they wear
blue uniforms instead of green, count 'em, an army of police even
in rural areas, harrassing people for ID every few miles, handing
out $400 traffic tickets every few miles, on foot, on bikes, on
motorcycles, in cars, in pickup trucks, and soliting bribes at traffic
stops from locals, for lack of tourists to extort.... they are
carrying full auto weapons in th streets now, if you like cops in
Mexico, you'll love Costa Rica... mind you, this is in a rural area
where 10 years ago you had to get on a bus to go get a policeman,
because not every town had one, and they didnt have fones, cars, etc.
And their gun was an early 1900's vintage .38 special and they had a
few corroded rounds on the holster, plus what was in the gun....
now they are packing everything from AK-47's to Uzi's to M-16's in
cow towns where nothing ever happens, except the ocaisonal heart
attack from too much pork in the diet....
all at public expence, just like the missing standing army was.. I
presume this is all part of the new world order push for a planetary
police state, and likely financed by the IMF etc. well I have bad
news for the IMF, I wouldnt loan a book to a Tico,
and loaning them any money is out of the question...
besides, they wont have an economy to pay with, with their plans to
only allow Elite super rich into the country to be fleeced by their
fleets of greasy lawyers, and their absurd laws...
I heard rumor Costa Rica is number three on the planet behind US &
Israel for lawyers per capita... and I'm sure the Tico Lawyers could
teach the American & Jewish versions a lot... the Ocean of sleaze has
no bottom here.....
you can get married in Reno in a half hour for $50...with nothing but
your ID, Or you can get married in San Jose for about $2000, and six
months getting all the stamps, seals, signitures, and
authentifications on all the documents, and their certified
translations...
thats how it is here... And it never stops.. the general theme here
for foriegners is that you cant do anything due to the constant
blockages.. good luck when the Lawyer's Squatters move onto your farm
when you go on vacation...
Me? I live out in the brush with the snakes.. the ticos dont like
living in the jungle due to the snakes.... I consider them body
guards.. they keep the number of governmet officials, armed robbers,
and lawyers to an endurable minimum...
anyway, dont bother retiring here, or coming here for tourism... and
I wouldnt buy the coffee or bananas either... check on the national
consumption of Dioxin for Agricultural purposes... here, the
instructions on the five gallon chemical cans get ignored... usual
rate of application is about 3X what ever the label says, otherwise it
doesnt kill the weeds, bugs, or fungus.... things are pretty tough
here, but sprayers are cheap, and so are workers willing to breathe
the shit......
I grow my own organic bananas, quit drinking coffee, until I get my
own going, quit using sugar, and only eat home grown pineapples....
seems wiser than getting cancer... I was in the hospital here once
for a few days... Got robbed while I slept, and then robbed again by
the finance dept. Because I was a foriegner...
so I think its entertaining that health insurance is now mandantory
for foriegn residents.. sounds like a good deal... until you see the
hospital..
