the other day on way home, stopped at the village gossip's house to
chat... talked about the residency issue.... she also brought up the
row w/gringos on the coast, the government has been screwing them
anyway possible, supposedly over a few jerks who tried fencing off
the beach... i.e. Instead of addressing the actual issue, they did
a blanket harrassment and started running everyone out of their homes
and businesses by raising taxes by a thousand times in one year..
this is commonly known as collective punishment...
and now the residency thing.... planning on running several thousand
long term resident non residents out of the country, and think it
will be business as usual afterwards... uh? I dont think so....
anyway, impression I got from my gossip lady friend, was the ticos
are quite smug about ruining people's businesses on the coast...
we are talking about a two Peso banana republic screwing over
citizens of a country with 300 million people.... who they totally
depend on for tourism & to buy their agriculture products....
Bananas, Pineapples, Coffee, Sugar, and thats about it......
I think an american boycott of Costa Rican products would be a very
good idea... Dole grows Pineapples here, and costa rican coffee is
labled as such in the supermarkets in the section with the bags &
grinder.... I suggest people go some where else for their vacation
also... Tourism is the number one industry here.... And I have been
to better places... and if you cant live here due to the attitude of
the people, do you really want to visit? wouldnt it be better to
spend your money some place they appreciated you? some place you
would be welcomed? if you wanted to live there?
there is one thing the ticos do best..... its screwing over
foriegners.... in fact, its all they know... and they are very very
good at keeping up a false front, while Ratting off the cheese thru
the holes they create in the back side of the cheese box....
I got another example of it yesterday, which I cant talk about.....
I have to check it out, advise the victim etc. but its like this, I
have lived here 15 years, and every year I have realized the ocean of
sleeze to be far deeper than I thought the year before... every
american here has files in their computers of incredible sleeze factor
stories...
I suspect we are going to see a mass online dumping of those files
about June....
should be entertaining.... economy is in the shitter, and the
reputation of the country will take a nose dive into the septic tank
too.... its like the american on the Coast who got beat up by
squaters, and the courthouse in Cortez filed the complaints, but
nothing was done.. Nothing.. Tresspassing, agravated assault,
battery with gun barrels of the property owner, a foriegn national...
Who posted the story and fotos online.... I've delt with Cortez....
same story, if you need a piece of toilet paper go file a denuncia
there.... even the ticos know better.... anyway... should be fun...
I see the potential for decades of abuse to foriegners to come back
on these people.... what do you think will happen to the economy and
tourism when thousands of such stories go online all at pretty much
the same time? could affect tourism and the sale of CR products,
and personally I'd advise all foriegn governments to cut off aid...
they gladly take the air program money, but the chainsaws never
stop....
They gladly let you film wildlife, but then hound hunting ranks
just behind soccer, and the hounds are more regular than the
chainsaws..
I hear talk on short wave of a carbon tax on dogs... yeah right!
here, they cant even enforce the laws against tresspassing, illegal
hunting etc. and they think these people will ante up for taxes?
boy! them R some stupid drones dreaming that shit up......
control by legislative Edict never works.... pretty soon the peasants
figure out the lords dont come out of the castle all that much, seems
they are too busy fattening their jowels, and porking their whores....
more laws? More crime... no laws, pretty soon no criminals, because
people quit expecting the system to fix the problems, and they fix
them themselves... no? study Taoism, or history .......
