wednesday the 7th part two.........

so, how do you get there?

well first you need a plan a dream....

maybe its a hut in the mountains with herbs hanging from the rafter
poles? like in some Andre Norton Witch World fantasy novel?

Or is it a gypsy cart pulled by a pony with a small yurt bundled up on it?

something like that? or a boat with everything you need in it?

its your dream, you decide....

how to do it? well by letting go of everything else, and buying and
making the things you need to make your dream come to life!

have a yard sale.... start selling things that dont have a place in
your dream..... use the proceeds to buy things you do need in your
dream and dont have yet....

The good news is a real dream needs much less than you probably have,
so even at yard sale prices you can effectively trade for what you
need....

you can get rid of a closet full of clothing, and a box full of shoes,
and maybe afford a good thick wool coat, and some comfortable boots?

and in the kitchen, you can get rid of cupboards full of junk, and
trade up quality wise into a few higher quality more durable cooking
items?

you can start making things and learning things too in the process....
pretty easy to afford some cloth, and start making more durable
clothing.... like the stuff I've come up with from denim and
Camoflage cloth based on karate uniform patterns...

then there are the tools.... no problem these days buying hand tools,
everything from axes to hoes are available affordably, no need to go
digging for bog iron......

and a musical instrument? also available used on ebay.....

my advice is to be very minimalistic..... the reason humanity is in
dire straits, is because we all invariably want too much.....

Also pay perticular attention to your transportation... know that
motor vehicles, even 4wd's etc. Are pretty much limited to improved
roads, and anywhere they can go, so also can go people like police,
rangers, thieves, raiders, etc.

Be practical! dont think you can over winter a pony in the mountains
easily.... you could go thru alot of ponies figuring out how to do it
if you dont have the knowlege, infrastructure, and resources....

Dont under estimate the effects of climate! cold climates require
much work and more risks to survive on a subsistence level in..... my
advice on climate is choose a warm one, with adequate rainfall....
you can study climate, rainfall, soil types, etc. Anywhere in the
world with a book on structual geography in your lap at home.....

Look for more remote areas!
People are problems... less people, lees problems!

Plan on flying under the Radar...... get land or go back into
uninhabited areas as far from civilisation as possible to avoid things
like building departments etc.

Find water! land without water is worthless..
Dont count on being able to truck water in.... when the collapse
comes, your stay is then limited by your water.....

Do not be afraid to move to another country, and learn another language......

Make a decision to go underground, i.e. Illegal if you need to, before
the fact, and plan accordingly....

i.e. Can you realistically carry out a plan that entails going off
into the brush and never coming out?

best think about it and how to do it successfully....

Plan on things getting much, much worse very soon! dont even think
about a business etc. In these times, think about root/rock
subsistence and survival......

You dont have to be a purist.... a solar panel is better than a
kerosene lamp... it costs less over the long haul, is less
dangerous, and allows you to live without trips to the gas station...

Expect hardships! expect to have to give up ideas, so as not to have
to give up your goals....

be adaptable! its the number one survival trait!

Aquire and practice good habits! realize that subsistence and
survival are bought with mostly labor and good thinking skills.....

Expect failures, think of them as learning experiences.... learn from
them, back up to solid ground, go around problems rather than trying
to beat them....

Keep everything as simple and basic as possible..
Problems generally result from complications...

Know your shit! learn and practice first, leave later...

Dont expect much help.....

Expect to eat really simple........

Expect problems with rats/mice and insects ........

Be frugal! Use your resources wisely.....

Expect people to bad mouth you behind your back... and to screw you
over no matter how poor you are.....

Keep your mobility factor.....

have a back up camp with a hidden stash of survival items and tools.......

plant food everywhere.......

Take care of your teeth.........

learn to use primitive weapons... Learn to make them....

study martial arts........

Hide your camp.........

Learn to sharpen tools! Extremely important!

Dont rely on machines........

Know that the most durable material is stainless steel... the more
stainless items the better.....

Buy quality!

Durability factor is first priority in all items.......

Learn as many crafts as possible.......

Become a generalist!

Leave as soon as possible....

Know that the easiest way to transport an item to another country is as money!

Tools, clothing, cooking ware, etc. Are available everywhere on the planet.....

know that law and order is breaking down everywhere..... Expect the
trend to continue in spite of a police state mentality.....

If you let a police state disarm you, genocide invariably follows.....

Die free!
